Information about Atyrau
Region is situated in the west side of the Republic of Kazakhstan and formed in 1938 year (till 1992 year-Guryev). Territory of the region is 118,0 thousand square kilometers. Population census of Atyrau region is 464 699 thousand people.
Atyrau region is located within the range of vast Prykaspyi lowland. Important part of Prykaspyi lowland is occupied by the sands (Naryn, Taisoygan, Karakum).
There are rich oil fields of oil and gas (Ural-Emba oil region). At the beginning of 2006 year there were 214 oil fields in the Republic of Kazakhstan and 88 oil fields are located in Atyrau region.
Region is rich in reserves of different minerals: brick earth (reserves are worth to 52,7 million tons); potash salt (697 million tons); mason's sand (41,2 million cubic m), gypsum (21,0 billion tons); common salt (687,0 million tons); limestone (1,9 million cubic m); chalk (95,2 million tons); source of mineral water, saturated dioxide of sodium, calcium chloride, magnesium chloride, magnesium sulfate, their reserves make up 898 million cubic m.
Ural-Caspian fishing area takes the leading place among inland reservoir of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Presence of valuable sturgeon fishes in the Ural River and Caspian Sea favours the development of fish industry that allows delivering of fish and black hard-roe to the world market. "Atyraubalyk" JSC produces coarse-grained hard-roe which is exported to many countries. Nearness of Caspian Sea allows developing of such industries as fishing and navigation.
Climate is sharply continental and dry. Summer is dry, long and hot, but winter is cold and with little snow. Temperature in January is -8-11 C0, in July+24+25 C0. Annual quantity of precipitation 100-200 mm. Great rivers in the region are: Ural (2534km), Emba (712 km), Sagyz (511 km), Oyil (800km). Great lakes: Inder (110,5 sq.km).
Half territory is occupied by solonetz and brackish complexes, also sands. On the riverside you can meet poplar and willow groves.
Centre of the region is situated in Atyrau city (till 1992 year-Guryev). It is located on the Ural River and formed in 1640 year. Distance between Astana and Atyrau is 1810 km. There are 7 regions, 2 cities and 176 villages, including 10 districts.
Zhilioy region
Region was formed in 1928 and its territory is 29,3 thousand sq.km. It located north-eastern pare of Caspian Sea coast. In 2007, population of the region was 69,7thousand people. Density of population (1 sq. km) make up 2,4 people.
Zhem river is crossing the territory of Zhilioy region.
Kulsary is the centre of Zhilioy region, formed in 1939. Its population was 48,6 thousand people in 2007. Distance from the centre to Atyrau is 230km.
There are ancient-historical monuments as Araltobe, where the leader's burial place has found: Sarmatov (2-4 century B.C.) in a golden garb, burial place of Ushkan, Sherlygul mosque.

This region is reach in minerals , which are oil and gas, and Tengis oil field is the greatest one. Such organizations as Zhilioymunaigas, Bakai corporation, Akniet-Emba, Zhilioytransport, Tengisautotransport are still working there.
In 2006 were mined 14679,5 thousand tons oil, 4651,7 mln cubic meter natural gas, Generating electricity -1107,7 mln kilowatt/hour, thermal energy-1422,3 thousand gKal.
Inder region
Region was formed in 1933. Its territory is 10,9 thousand sq.km. In 2007, population of the region was 30,7 thousand people. Density of population (1 sq. km) make up 2,8 people.
Ural River is crossing the territory of Inder region. Its centre is Inder district, formed in 1935. In 2007 has lived there 11,9 thousand people. Distance from it to Atyrau is 200 km. There are 1 akim and 6 district administrations in the region.
Main agricultural direction is cattle-breeding, exactly sheep breeding. In 2006, meat production made up 4,7 thousand tons, cow milk-6,3 thousand tons, eggs-300 thousand pieces, fleece-150 tons. Also in 2006 were produced 1,4 thosand tons of potato, 2,3 thousand tons vegetables, 1,3 thousand tons melons and gourds.
There are working such organizations as: ISI-Gips -Inder LLP, Ingergas, Zharsuat, Kazakhtelecom JSC and others.
Isatai region
Region was formed in 1928. Its territory is 14,7 thousand sq.km. In 2007, population of the region was 24,3 thousand people. Density of population (1 sq. km) make up 1,6 people.
Climate is sharply continental with its cold winter and hot, long summer. Akkystau is a region centre, formed 1973. Its population is 7,4 thousand people.
Distance from it to Atyrau is 85 km. There are 7 district administrations in the region. Main agricultural direction is cattle-breeding. In 2006, meat production made up 4,7 thousand tons, cow milk-3,8 thousand tons, eggs-150 thousand pieces, fleece-79 tons.
They are working such organizations as "Sazankurak" Joint Venture, "Zhaikmunaigas, Pryicaspian petroleum LLP, "Zhanbai", "Svetlanaoil" and others. In 2006 were mined 1165,5 thousand tons of oil. Also is working brickworks in the region.
Kysilkoga region
Region was formed 1944. Its territory is 24,9 thousand sq.km. In 2007, population of the region was 32,5 thousand people. Density of population (1 sq. km) make up 1,3 people. Its centre is Mialy, formed in 1959 and population is 6,2 thousand people.
Distance from the region centre to Atyrau is 300km.
It has 10 district administrations in the region.
Oyil and Sagys rivers are crossing the region.
Main agricultural direction is cattle-breeding. In 2006, meat production made up 10,4 thousand tons, cow milk-10,3 thousand tons, eggs-226 thousand pieces, fleece-216 tons. And there are ships and goats-109,5 thousand, horses-5,1 thousand, camels-1,8 thousand.
There are working "Kainarmunaigas", Kazakh-turkish joint venture "Matin" and others. There were mined 711,9 thousand tons of oil in 2006.
Kurmangasy region
Region was formed in 1928. Its territory is 20,8 thousand sq.km. In 2007, population of the region was 58,8 thousand people. Density of population (1 sq. km) make up 2,8 people. Its centre is Ganushkino, formed in 1793 and population in 2007 was 13,1 thousand people. Distance from the region centre to Atyrau is 260km.
It has 18 district administrations in the region.
A lot of rivers are crossing the region, but the greatest one is Kigach.
Main agricultural direction is sheep-breeding. In 2006, meat production made up 10,8 thousand tons, cow milk-10,7 thousand tons, eggs-172 thousand pieces, fleece-276 tons, potatoes-2,4 thousand tons, vegetables- 3,7 thousand tons, melons and gourds-1,4 thousand tons.

Makat region
Region was formed in 1924. Its territory is 4,9 thousand sq.km. In 2007, population of the region was 27,9 thousand people. Density of population (1 sq. km) make up 5,7 people. Its centre is Makat, formed in 1924 and population in 2007 was 13,9 thousand people. Distance from the region centre to Atyrau is 130km.
The Sagys River is crossing the region.
In 2006, the volume of oil production has made up 616,3 tons. There are such enreprises as "Dossormunaigas", "Dossormunaimash" LLP, "MakatEnergoremont", MakatService-2004" and others.
Mahambet region
Region was formed in 1938. Its territory is 9,6 thousand sq.km. In 2007, population of the region was 29,6 thousand people. Density of population (1 sq. km) make up 3,1 people. Its centre is Mahambet, formed in 1928 and population in 2007 was 7,6 thousand people. Distance from the region centre to Atyrau is 67km.
It has 11 district administrations in the region.

In 2006, meat production made up 4,2 thousand tons, cow milk-7,0 thousand tons, eggs-170 thousand pieces, fleece-34 tons, potatoes-4,6 thousand tons, vegetables-8,6 thousand tons, melons and gourds-1,4 thousand tons. And there are ships and goats-48,9 thousand, horses-3,1 thousand, camels-2,7 thousand.
